Falcons Score 92 Points In Jamboree

The Falcons outscored their opponents 92-46 in the season ending Jamboree held at the Siskey Y.   Six teams participated in five 15 minute games.  The Falcons won 4 of the 5 contests, scored touchdowns on 12 of 15 possessions, scored 8 extra points, intercepted 6 passes and ran two of those back for touchdowns while playing in a driving wind.  The coaches felt it was time to let the players call their own plays on offense and run the defense.

Green Falcons 21 – White Falcons 0

Hank Booth scored the first touchdown of the day on a long run from scrimmage.  Hank also scored the extra point on a pass from Christian Farmer.  Hank scored the next touchdown on a pass from Ryan Brown.  The extra point was successful whne Christian found Ryan in the cornor of the end zone and the Falcons were up 14-0.  Ryan made it 20-0 when he scored on a short pass from Christian Farmer and Mitch Moore scored his first point of the day when he caught a pass from Tripp Osteen.  The Falcons were able to maintain the shutout when Ethan Robinson intercepterd a pass in the end zone off a deflection from his brother Caleb.  Mitch Moore ran the defensive team for the entire game.

Falcons 12 – Siskey “A” Team 18

Paul Cunningham started the scoring for the Falcons with a long touchdown run on their first play from scrimmage.  The extra point failed but the Falcons were up 6-0.  Mitch Moore was calling the offensive plays for the Falcons while Ryan Brown was running the defense.  Siskey tied the game at 6-6 and the Falcon offense once again went to work.  Paul Cunningham found Mitch Moore behind the defense and Mitch scored to give the Falcons a 12-6 lead.  The Siskey Y would tie the game for the second time with time running down.  The Falcons had the ball with less than 2 minutes left when the Siskey Team intercepted a pass and ran it back to the one yard line and scored on the next play.  With only enough time left for a couple of plays Mitch Moore hit Paul Cunningham on a long pass.  Paul’s flag was pulled inside the 5 yard line.  Time expired with the Falcons on the doorstep.

Falcons 20 – Harris Red 8

Mitch Moore scored the Falcons first touchdown of this game on a pass from Christian Farmer.   Christian also hit Mitch with a pass for the extra point.  Ryan Brown intercepted a pass on the Harris Red’s next possession and ran it back for a topuchdown.  The extra point failed but the Falcons had a 13-8 lead.   The Harris Red Team had crossed midfield on their next series of plays with only a couple of minutes left in the game when Alex Carpenter came up with a big interception to give the ball back to the offense.   Hank Booth broke around the left end and down the sideline for a quick touchdown and iced the game for the Falcons.  Tripp Osteen found Ryan Brown all alone in the end zone for the extra point.  Mitch Moore and Ryan Brown called the plays for the offense while Ryan ran the defense.

Falcons 19 – Siskey “B” 6

This game was never in doubt as the entire game was played in front of the Siskey goal line.  Hank Booth scored on a pass from Caleb Robinson for the Falcons first touchdown.  Ryan Brown then intercepted a pass on the Siskey Team’s third play of the game and ran it back to the 3 yard line.  Caleb Robinson found Paul Cunningham in the end zone and the Falcons were up 12-0.  Ryan Brown intercepted his second pass of the game  on the Siskey Team’s next possession and ran it back to the 15 yard line.  Hank Booth scored on a pass from Paul Cunningham and then scored the extra point when Ethan Robinson found him in the middle of the end zone.  The Sisky Y scored their only points as time was running out to prevent the Falcons second shut out of the day.  Coach Tyson called the playes for the offense while Mitch Moore ran the defense.

Falcons 20 – Harris Blue 12

The final game of the day proved to be one of the most exciting.  Mitch Moore and Ryan Brown called the offense while Mitch also ran the defense.  The Falcons fell behind 6-0  but came back quickly on their first possession.  Mitch Moore went deep and Ryan Brown found him behind the defense but Mitch slipped and fell down on the Harris 20 yard line.  Mitch scored on the next play when Ryan found him in the end zone.  The Falcons took a 7-6 lead when Christian Farmer completed the extra point pass to Ryan all alone in the end zone.  The Falcons once again fell behind when the Harris Blue Team scored on their next possession and were up 12-7.  The Falcons came right back when Mitch scored on a fake reverse and the Falcons had a 13-12 lead.  Time was running short and the Falcon defense needed a stop to hold on to the victory.  Mitch Moore stepped in front of a pass intended for the Harris Blue Team’s wide receiver and took it all the way back for a touchdown and a 19-12 lead.  Mitch scored the extra point on a diving catch in the end zone on a pass thrown by Tripp Osteen and it was a 20-12 game.  The Falcon defense held the Harris team to four and out as the game ended.

Thank you parents for making sure your sons were at the practices and the games on time.  Thank you for your support and encouragement.  Thank you for allowing us to spend time with your sons.

Falcons White 26 – Falcons Green 20

The Two Arborbrook teams met on the field for the third time this season and for the third time the game was decided by less than a touchdown.  The field at Optimist Park has been recently resurfaced with turf grass and was the site  of the final game of the season for both teams.  The players talked the coaches into using the entire field which gave everyone an opportunity to play on a 100 yard field for the first time this season and possibly the first time ever.  First downs would be gained by crossing the 35 yard line on both sides of the field, an extra 5 minutes was added to each half, and the game was underway.

The Falcon White team had the first possession of the game and drove steadily down the field gaining first downs at both 35 yard lines and scored on a pass from Trey Barnes to Alex Forster.  The extra point failed but the White Falcons were up 6-0.  The Falcon Green team took over on their own 10 yard line and on the second play from scrimmage Ryan Brown broke around the left end and streaked down the sideline spinning away from Daniel Zangmeister at midfield and scoring what looked like a game tying 85 yard touchdown run.  An inadvertant whistle by the referee  at mid field brought the ball back and the 6 points was taken off the board.  The drive stalled at that point and the Falcon White team started their second possession from their own 10 yard line.    For the second straight time the White Falcons drove slowly down the field using up much of the clock and scored their second touchdown on a pass from Ben Marsico to Daniel Zangmeister.  Daniel made a great run after the catch by weaving his way through the middle of the Falcon Green defense and scored from the 20 yard line.  Jazz Alexander caught the two point conversion pass from Ben Marscio and the score was now 14-0.  The Falcon Green offense took over and picked up one first down but could go no farther and gave the ball back to the White Falcons.  The White Falcons once again moved the ball downfield but this time the Falcon Green defense came up strong and stopped the drive inside the 20.  The half would end with the with the White Falcons leading by a 14-0 score.

The Green Falcons started the second half from their own 10 yard line and immediatley felt the presence of Mitch Moore.  Mitch had missed the first half because of a Dr’s appointment but was fired up and ready to go as the second half started.  The Green Falcons started their own drive which was kept alive when Christian Farmer made and outstanding over the head catch at the White Falcon 40 yard line.  On the next play, Mitch Moore twisted and spun his way through the defense and scored the Green Falcons frist touchdown of the game.  Ryan Brown caught the extra point pass from Christian Farmer and the Green Falcons had trimmed the lead to 14-7.  It did not take the White Falcons long to respond.  They drove to midfield where Trey Barnes threw a perfect pass to Daniel Zangmeister behind the defense and Daniel outraced everyone to the end zone for his second touchdown of the game.  The pass Trey threw was a tight spirol that that was right on the money catching Daniel in stride.  The Panthers could of used him last week.  The extra point failed but the White Falcons now had a 20- 7 lead.  The Falcon Green team has been a second half team all season and this game would prove to be no exception.  They put on their second drive of the half and Hank Booth scored on a terrific run down the sideline after a couple of 360 degree spins.  Mitch Moore caught the extra point pass from Christian Farmer and the score was now 20-14.  The Falcon Green defense was looking for a stop when Matthew Pedemonte pulled off the play of the game for the White Falcons.  Matthew took a handoff and broke around the left end at his own 10 yard line.  Matthew is one of the fastest players on the field but this was no stroll down the sideline.  The Falcon Green defense was not about to let him score and the entire team stayed in pursuit.  Mitch Moore had three different shots at Matthew and forced him to the inside.  Several players had the angle and each time Matthew either faked or spun to keep going.  Mitch had the final shot at the 5 yard line and just missed the flag as Matthew scored on a 90 yard run.  This was an outstanding run at any level and was worthy of an ESPN highlight.  The extra point failed but Matthew had given the White Falcons a 26-14 lead with only a few minutes left in the game.   The Falcon Green team was not finished and quickly moved to the Falcon White’s 25 yard line.  Three pass plays fell incomplete when Coach Tyson called a reverse to Ryan Brown.  Ryan beat the defense around the left end and raced down the sideline for the game’s final touchdown.

The final score was 26-20 but I don’t think anyone really cared who scored the most points.  It was the competition among friends that really mattered.  I am not sure what words to use to describe the three games played between these two teams.  They were inspirational to all involved and showed how sports should be played on and off the field.  I am sure God had a hand in this and I am certain I saw the bleachers filled with angels.  Parents, you should be proud of the attitude and effort your sons gave this season.  I am once again honored to be a part of something special.  Both teams participate in a Jamboree on Saturday when the season officially ends.

Falcons (White) Win With Only 5 Players

The Falcons White Teams won a fantastic back and forth game against the Siskey YMCA #5 Team, to end the regular season at 7 and 1 with a final score of Falcons 38 – Siskey 26. It was as one parent put it, the Spartans VS the entire Persian army. You see due to other league sports games and commitments the Falcons took the field with only five players facing a team that out numbered them 3 to 1. The five had to play offense and defense the entire game with no breaks or rest. Game ball goes to the entire team of Daniel Zangmeister, Jonathan Zangmeister, Ben Marsico, Trey Barnes and Alex Forster. All of whom gave it their all and honored Christ in their play and sportsmanship. The Falcons scored on all but one drive.

Defensive game ball goes to Alex Forster who when his team needed the ball back made a great interception, which setup another Falcons score to take and hold the lead. The Falcons ended the game with seconds to go as their players showed maturity deciding to simply keep the ball on the ground and not attempt to run up the score.

Falcons Defeat Harris Y For 5th Straight Victory

Falcons 26 – Harris Y 12

The Falcons started out slow but for the second week in a row finished with a strong second half and defeated the Harris Y by  a score of 26-12.  Neither team scored on their first two possessions of the game before the Harris Y took a 6-0 lead with less than 3 minutes left in the half.  The eata point failed and the Falcons took over on their own 5 yard line.  The Falcons moved to just over midfield where Mitch Moore hit Caleb Robinson in the far right conor of the end zone with 14 seconds left in the half to tie the game at 6-6.  Ethan Robinson scored the extra point on a pass from Christian Farmer and the Falcons had a 7-6 half time lead.

The Falcons had the first possession of the second half and moved the ball just short of the first down marker on an excellent run by Ryan Brown.  Ryan found Mitch in the center of the end zone on the very next play and the Falcons lead was now 13-6.  Trip Osteen flipped a short pass to Ryan Brown all alone in the conor of the end zone for the extra point and it was a 14-6 game.  The Harris Y scored on their next possession but missed the two point conversion and the Falcons were still up 14-12.  The Falcon offense went to the ground game in their next possession with three straight runs up the middle setting up a pass from Ryan Brown to Mitch Moore all alone behind the defense.  Mitch scored easily as the Falcons  increased their leat to 20-12.  The extra point failed and the Harris Y took over on their own five yard line.  The Harris Y advanced the ball to the Falcon 20 yard line before the drive stalled.  On the first play from scrimmage, Paul Cunningham broke around the left end and took the ball down the sideline to the Harris Y’s 10 yard line.  Ryan Brown scored  on a run around left end as the game ended to complete a 26-12 victory for the Falcons.  The Falcon Green Team will face the Falcon White Team on Wednesday at Southbrook in the final game of the season for both teams.
