Arborbrook Wins First Soccer Game

The game last Saturday against Switzerland may have been best described by a what a coach on the other team was heard saying, “Don’t worry about it (not winning the game), these kids go to a private school and they practice every evening.”

While that statement in itself has much in it to be unwrapped, I must say it was wonderful to be part of the Arborbrook athletic experience again. As coaches, it is an honor to join with you on the sidelines as we encourage the players as they develop. This game was especially great in the way we moved, covered for and anticipated each other’s actions. The defense consistantly showed great discipline and communication as they made wise decision after wise decision when challenged by the other team’s offense. Aborbrook’s offense adapted and became more dangerous with every lesson learned from a previous challenge. The defense and offense soon saw the advantage of playing the ball wide into the flanks early and attacking with good passing and movement. It continues to be a treat to coach players who listen and respond to instuction so quickly that the change can be seen within the same game. Great job Falcons! We look forward to the next challenge given to us on May 10th against Spain. The first two games have set the stage for a wonderful season of growth, community and development. May that also be true of the teams we will be playing as we strive to model and mentor Christ in the arena of sport.
