TREY BARNES RECAPTURES FREE THROW LADDER

Boys Basketball Practice – Monday, December 9

Trey Barnes became the first player to sit on top the Free Throw Ladder for the 2nd time.  Trey was our initial leader but was knocked off in his first attempt to defend the top position.  He has since worked his way up the entire ladder and recaptured the top spot with a 4-3 victory over Caleb Farmer.  Trey made his final free throw to prevent a sudden death overtime.  Trey’s opponent will be Mitch Moore.  Mitch will be making his first attempt at winning the coveted top position.  Nate Johnson established a new team high for the free throw competition hitting 9 of 10 shots.

Practice today concentrated on final preprations for tomorrow’s game against Garr Christian.  Inbounds plays and a 40 minute scrimmage were the highlights.   Several of our players have never competed in an official basketball game.  We expect all the players to be nervous but we also expect them to play with all their hearts.  Coach Scott told the players not to be afraid to make a mistake.  Mistakes happen in sports as well as in life.  It’s what you do after the mistake that counts.   If you get down on yourself and dwell on the negative, failure often follows.  If you keep on playing and learn from your mistake,  success will come.

Uniforms were handed out after practive ended.  The uniforms are pretty cool, dark green with white lettering and white trim.  Arborbrook is written in a semi circle over the number.  The Game starts at 4:15 for anyone that can make it.
