Boys Basketball Practice – Monday, Dec 3
We welcomed a new player to out team today, 9th grader Nate Johnson. Practice began as usual with our stretching exercises and a review of rebounding. We moved into the “IT” Dribble contest and proceeded with 3 on 3 team competitons for rebounding.
With our first game only one week away, we installed 2 inbound plays. One play is designed to get the ball inbounds while the other play is designed to score. The Tip In Drill followed and the players showed great improvement over the first time the drill was introduced.
The Free Throw Ladder lead us into the team huddle. Caleb Farmer now sits on top the ladder. Caleb is our 5th different player to hold the top position. The team huddle centered around the question; “What will people think when they hear the name, Arborbrook Falcons?” Our name represents not only the basketball team, but also the school, our parents, and God. We can control our reputation by our actions, our attitudes, and our words. We may not score the most points, but our goal is to make God proud of us. If God is proud of us, then we have represented the school and our parents well.
We spent the last part of practice working on our first organised offensive play. We had planned on introducing 2 plays but the players did not grasp the first play. We have work to do in this area. We completed the practice with wall sits / laps. The players set a new record of 5:06:03.
